Girls Just Wanna Have Fun....

This is my card for the Creative Card Crew challenge http://creativecardcrew.blogspot.com/ the challenge as you may have guessed is to use the expression "Girls just Wanna have fun as the inspiration for your card.

I have used my new stamps from my holiday purchases, they are from "creative expressions" I have coloured them using my whispers pens and some twinkling H20's. The paper is from the "Papermania - hint of pink" range. I have to say that I do like making this style of card when I have a whole load of papers that co-ordinate. When I get a pack like this I tend to make cards like this first and then use scraps on smaller cards, .... any-hoo.....

I am also entering this into today's 360 day card challenge http://365cards.blogspot.com as today's challenge is to attach a tag to your card. I have a little tag in the pocket I have created, so that I can write a wee message on it to whoever I end up sending the card to.

I have to admit, I am quite pleased with this card, I hope you all like it too......

First time with copics

This is my entry for the sugar bowl challenge http://sugarbowlblog.blogspot.com/ a little last minute again, isn't amazing how quickly 2 weeks pass! I think this is just about recognisable as Gayle's Sketch, just been elongated slightly!

For those of you who have been enquiring about my new craft purchases, I have used my new copics here, I was a little nervous as I normally use water colour pens and pencils which I think are probably a bit more forgiving. I think I need a lot more practice, but I am quite please with how her hair turned out. Unfortunately I didn't have the right ink to use with them so it has bled a little, which is why I have gone for the whole ripped and torn look thinking I might get away with it if I go for the whole distressed look!

The paper is new as well, although it has already made an appearance on my blog, its from " Bo Bunny - Beau Jardin, blush"

I am not sure about the big bow, not normally my thing but it was a required element so hay ho! guess its good to be pushed out of my comfort zone once and a while!

moo-vin!

This is a quick post! this is my card for today's 365 challenge http://365cards.blogspot.com/ the challenge is to use a homophone i.e a word that is spelt different to the meaning, i.e "the perfect pear"

I am not sure if moo-vin counts, I did have a look on the Internet there was lots of example's I just found them difficult to translate into a card.

I am also going to enter this one into cute card Thursday http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com/ where the challenge is to use eyelets in your creation. which I have done in the corner underneath those ribbons, but I am not sure if that feature works, but I really like the rest of the card.

The stamp I have used is "sugar nellie - custard" I have stamped her 3 times to make her more 3d coloured with my whisper pens and added some googley eyes (which I have to say I love) think the paper is K&Co its from my scrap box, think that's about it.....

At last a card!

It feels like ages since I have actually put a card here, so I have one for you now!

I don't think I actually have a style, just like trying loads of different things. It is ages since I have done some resist stamping, and that is part of the challenge over at
so i thought I would give it a go.
The list of ingredients are:

1: Cat or Dog

2: Black and Gold

3: 3 different brads

4: faux-batik Beatrice (great tutorial available on the ready steady stamp blog)

5: book or newspaper page.

The cat stamp is from "Anita".

I couldn't possibly rip a page from an old book, but I actually took a colour photocopy from a page of little woman which is a really old book that I inherited from my grandmother, I think it has worked ok. I have used a swirl stamp from "le blanche" to do the resist stamping, and I have touched it up with gilding flakes (which I have had in my craft cupboard for months and months and not used yet)

The edges have been inked with "distress ink-walnut" I have also sponged the cat image using the walnut ink so I am going to enter it into http://365cards.blogspot.com/ as the challenge there was sponging ( it was actually yesterdays challenge so I hope its ok to put it in a wee bit late!) I had intended to post this last night, but it was midnight by the time I had finished so the photo would have been really rubbish, and I really did have to go to bed!
and finally I used a paper flower from prima, some peel off leaves from Dawn Bibby and coloured it in with sakura gel pens, and the fancy brad is " Bo Bunny - Bella Journee"

Craft Purchases

Hi,
I have been asked by a few of you what purchases I made whilst on holiday, so a quick post here to give you a little glimpse although the photo is not brill. prob get a better idea as it gradually gets used on cards!
Got quite a few sets of stamps, a couple of sets of penny black stamps so that I could enter some of the challenges over there!
I got a big die for my big shot, I have to say I wouldn't have just picked that design but I saw it in a craft magazine and what they did with it was amazing, so I am looking forward to having a play!
there are some bo bunny papers there, and I need them like I need a hole in the head! but I just couldn't resist!
Finally some copic's. I have not used them before so I only bought a few of them to see how I get on with them. I bought a couple of skin tone ones, and some to do a black and white colouring. I am however looking for a little advice I was told not to use them with stazon ink, and I cant craft without stazon! so I am just wondering what ink to use instead!
The shops I visited were in :
Perth: " Stampaholics" Fab shop with a great selection of stamps
Glasgow: "Craftology" which I love great shop, filled with everything. In my eyes this is huge! but they are actually moving next door so they can have even more space than they do now! cant wait till my visit next year!
Both shops offer a reward system to... every little helps!

Three times a lady

Hi all,
Just a quick post tonight. I wanted to enter this card into Stamping for the weekend. http://stampinfortheweekend.blogspot.com/ I thought the challenge there this week was brilliant, a little bit different from the norm you had to chose from various song title and then base a card around it. I chose "three times a lady" I have left all my lady stamps at home but thankfully I had brought my gorjuss girls!

I have used paper from "Bo Bunny - beau jardin clover" the images are coloured with water colour pencils and glitter gel pens.

I am also entering this into 365 cards http://365cards.blogspot.com/ The challenge for the day is "you raise me up" and you were to use 2 different ways to add dimension. 2 of the mats have been raised using 3d foam and the crown of the princess and the flowers have been raised using silicone glue. Unfortunately the picture is a bit rubbish but the dimension is there, promise!
Will be off to visit craftology in Glasgow tomorrow! My poor credit card!..........

Art Nouveau

Hi All

Firstly I would like to say thank you for all your kind messages regarding recent success that I have had. I have to say that I am still stunned to have reached the top 20 in the last Mojo competition especially when there was over 500 entries. Also reaching the top 5 in the Allsorts challenge and then one of the top 3 cards of the week over at 365 cards. I also would like to say a thank you to the people who selected my cards for these honours! It has given me a real confidence boost. Thank you!

I am really enjoying my holiday, not done as much crafting as I would have liked, although I have already visited one craft shop, "Stampaholics" in perthshire and bought a few goodies, a visit to another craft shop is on the cards (no pun intended) for tomorrow!

I have made this card, which I plan to enter into a couple of challenges. Firstly Papertake weekly http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com/ the challenge for the week is using any of the following colours: Pink, Black, White, yellow, Green, Grey, Lilac

The theme for a spoon full of sugar http://aspoonfullofsugarchallenge.blogspot.com/ is swirls, and I have used some lovely swirly paper from "Bo Bunny - Beau Jardin Blush" (a new purchase) I have also tried to emphasise some of the swirls using some "distress stickles - worn lipstick" (also a new purchse!)

Also the Allsorts challenge http://allsortschallenge.blogspot.com/ which is to use only one so I have used only one sheet of paper (its double sided) only one stamp " Inca stamp - Art Nouveau Profile" which I have stamped a number of times to create dimension, I have coloured it using whispers pens, water colour pencils and have done the flower using twinkling H20's and a little bit of stickles. and I have inked round the edges of the image using "distress ink - worn lipstick" Also I used a one word sentiment. I couldn't resist putting the 3 gems on it, it just didn't look right without it, I hope that still counts!

Wow what a lot of waffle! I hope I have not bored you all to tears!

Taking a small break..

Dear All,

No card today, sorry. Just a quick post to let you all know that I'm off on holiday today, Yey! I will have access to Internet and Have packed some crafting stuff (wow what a job that is, I mean what do you take, and what do you leave behind, and have you noticed the more things you acquire you gain more absolutely essential things!) I am going off with a large tesco bag, and a little papermania holdall thing full of stuff! I feel like I am moving house!

Anyway.... although I hope to still pop into blogland and still make cards, I am not sure how regularly that will be, so I may not be commenting as much as normal but will try my best to keep up! If not I will be back in about 10 days and will catch up with you all then!

Allsorts Challange

This is my entry for the Allsorts challenge http://allsortschallenge.blogspot.com/ which this week is a sketch.
This is quite a simple card, and I have to admit I am really please with the way it has turned out. I have used a stamp from the " Habico wedding images 2" set I stamped it twice once on plain white card, and once on some paper from the papermania hint of pink range, and then pieced it all together. There is also a strip of adhesive ribbon from the papermania set, and finally a few Kanban gems that you can barely see in the corner, but in real life they work well.

playing in the sugar bowl....

This is my entry for the sugar bowl challenge http://sugarbowlblog.blogspot.com/2009/07/challenge-14-judys-sketch.html ( a bit last min, oops!) I have used Colorbok paper and embellishments, and for the element of sparkle the chipboard flower and maggies scarf have been glittered with stickles!

In all honesty I don't really like how its turned out but I love the sketch so will prob try this layout again.

Black, White and Red

To all of you who have been following my blog (and may I say Thank You, I think it is a great honour especially as I am fairly new to this Blogging business, I started it only a month ago) You will be aware that my favorite colour combo is Black and Red so when I heard that the 365 cards http://365cards.blogspot.com/ challenge for the day is Black White and Red I had to give it a go.
I have used a stamp from Creative Expressions, have stamped it twice and have coloured with colour pencils and whisper pens, and the dress has been stamped on patterned paper and then all pieced together. Its a fairly simple card, however sometimes I do think less is more. However think I may have gone a little mad with the polka dots! Also in real life the red is a lot less orangy! but I had to take this photo at night so I could enter it into the challenge.

Another Gorjuss Wedding..

Hi All, firstly I would like to say thank you to all of you who left positive comments regarding my Gorjuss bride, it was good to know I wasn't that crazy after all! I suddenly realised that I had actually missed a trick, after all we have a "gorjuss flower girl" and I realised that I could have had a whole wedding party!

I Have used the masking technique to do the flower girls, and then the bride has been placed on 3d foam. I have also stamped her dress on vellum and created a little overlay for her dress. I will be entering this into the ABC challenge http://abc-challenge.blogspot.com/ which is V is for vellum. All the colouring has been done using water colour pencils. and the flower girl dresses have also been glittered with "stickles." I have used little paper flowers and then put flower gems in the centre. The gold swirls have been created using gold mirror card and the "true love sizzix die." and as usual a random sprinkling of peel off dots.

I am also going to enter this into the Rosie Dee's challenge http://rosiedeeschallenge.blogspot.com/ as the theme there is weddings.

Finally A Heart!

This may sound ridiculous but I have been trying to make a card with a heart on it since Tuesday so I could enter it into the Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge http://aspoonfullofsugarchallenge.blogspot.com/ which this week is to use hearts! When I made the ruby anniversary card, I was sure that I can use hearts, I did try but it just didn't work, Then again with my Gorjuss bride, hearts did go on the card but then didn't look right so they came off again.
So this time I actually started with a stamp that had a heart in it. The stamp is Santa Rosa. I also decided to enter Papertake Weekly http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com/ which is to use your favourite things, so I have gone for a black and red colour scheme. All my clothes are black or red, all the rooms in my house have red in them somewhere, hey I even had a red wedding dress! The papers are from the black and white "Kanban" range and the strip across the card is from "Colorbok - Nocturne" I have coloured in the roses with "Cosmic Shimmer Mist - Lava Red" also I didn't have a paper flower to match so I sprayed one with cosmic shimmer to match! and have put a "dovecraft" jeweled brad in the centre.
Finally I have used the layout from Mojo Monday http://www.mojomonday.blogspot.com/ so amazingly for someone that tends to let cards happen, I have managed to complete 3 challenges in 1 !

Gorjuss Bride!

I am not sure if I have completely lost the plot, but when I saw the new "miss bumble bee gorjuss girl" I thought she would look like a bride if she didn't have the wings...so I have made this wedding card (photo terrible, I should know better than to take it at night!)
This whole card has been made from lots of scraps and bits left over, that I have in a big box (I'm sure lots of us have one of those!) so I'm not quite sure where the paper is from, I have inked all the edges with "distress ink - worn lipstick" and have coloured the dress using "twinkling H2o's - Oyster" and what wedding dress would be complete without a little "stickels"! I have used some "Dawn Bibby vellum flowers" The pearl leaves are scraps of a friends wedding dress! (yes I am a magpie!) some adhesive pearls and a few peel off dots.
I think I am quite pleased with the result! P.S I just love her hairstyle!

Ruby Wedding

I was asked by a friend to make a ruby anniversary card for her, I was trying to make something that was more her style than mine. It took me ages to make this card not because it was particularly difficult, but I find cards just happen rather than me knowing exactly what I am doing!
The image was taken from "Strictly Card Dancers" cd, however in the image she had a yellow dress and I had wanted red, I coloured it over it with a red whispers pen, and then later painted over it with "cosmic shimmer mist Lava red" (I ended up doing that once it was already stuck on the card-the joys of just seeing where the card takes me rather than me knowing what I am doing) I used some paper from the "basic Grey, Blush range" and stamped with some swirls with a stamp from "le blanche" Then I have blinged it up with glittery swirls, adhesive stones and peel off dots.
What do you think?....

Lets Rock...

Before I start, I should mention that I don't really like this card, but I have not done a new post in a while so decided that I would put this one here even though I am not that happy with it.
I have used some stamps from inkadinkado stamped with the "brilliance inkpad Graphite Black" and then embossed with a black sparkle embossing powder.
I am not sure where I got the black dotty paper, but the other paper is from "DCWV Rockstar stack."
I have finished it off using a little bit of glitter card and a charm from "American Traditional Designs"
P.S I would like to thank everyone for there helpful suggestions regarding taking photos of cards.

Fairytale!

Just a quick post, sorry photo a bit rubbish, cant really see the colour in their cheeks! lighting not brill! made the film strip using plain black card, and a ribbon stitch border punch. Used a stamp from Elzybells, and some random flower stamp I had to do the flowers around the edges, the papers from "color box, perfect posies " paper. You cant really see it but she has been dressed up with little gems and stickles. Hopefully might get a little crafting done over the weekend.....

Mr Darcy!

What can I say since my early teens I have loved pride and prejudice, but the moment I fell in love with Mr Darcy was when Colin Firth stepped out of the lake!! I have watched that adaptation more times than I care to admit and can probably recite the book of by heart!
When Jolly nation brought out this stamp last year, I wondered if life could get any better, crafting and Mr Darcy!!
In the 1st card I have kept it a bit more traditional, the couple have been stamped on about 3 different papers from the "K&Co wedding range" and pieced together to match the background papers.
Then I wanted to see if I could make it a little bit more modern and funky, so I have used some cardstock that is black one side and pink the other, and had some apertures down the side (a little difficult to photograph sorry!) they have been coloured it with water colour pencils. Used some dotty paper and a dotty flower, a button which I have acquired from my mums button drawer, sure that came from a cardigan I had when I was about 5! and then cut some swirls using the big shot, and finally finished off with peel off dots.
Hope you enjoy getting as "lost in Austin" as I did.....
