My Scraps have hit the Nursery

Hello All,

I am hoping that you will not all think that I have totally lost the plot here!!

I am finally decorating my daughters nursery. The reason for the delay, well we had originally planned to move, so we left her room as it was as we thought it would sell better with the original decor .. however we have recently made the decision to stay where we are and extend, so I have been let loose to create a little girls room, rather than a cot shoved in the middle of a spare room!

At the end of last Year, i watched Kirsties Vintage home, and was inspired by an episode where she did a room for 2 girls http://scrapbook.channel4.com/bookmarkBar/509d1c59e4b0965919808b5e She created a tree from vintage wallpaper, and then put some shelves on it. However the thought crossed my mind, I could do something similar but use some of the many papers I have ..... but after my recent post mission impossible, I decided to do it entirely from my scraps, and the above is the result.

So 4 patchwork owls, 13 leaves and 108 flowers later ... you still cant see a dent in my scrap bag!! ... I was going to take another photo, however it could get repetative and boring, so I will maybe do one once a month! let me know what you think!

I should really have waited before putting photos on my blog as I still have loads to do, My husband will be putting shelves on the tree, I need to make curtains, and lots of other handcrafted things planned, so I will give you all a final tour when it is done, but I just couldnt wait to show you what I did with my scraps!!

I have to enter this into Pixie's Crafty snippits

Thanks for looking
Hugs Juls

  6. Sounds like it will look fabulous Julia such a good idea.

I remember many years ago painting a rainbow to cover one wall of one of our sons bedrooms complete with sun...... some things never change it seems as I'm still addicted to suns and moons.

    Have a good weekend.

  26. I've seen this also on Pinterest but your take on adding a tree to a nursery is one of the best I've seen. And a brilliant way to use your scraps. It looks lovely!

  27. I love it , so gorgeous , special and one of a kind, you are a crafty lady.
When Sam was little I painted a whole wall , with a desert island and underwater creatures, that's what he wanted, when we sold the house the couple had 2 little girls who loved it, so it stayed.
Hope your happy in the same house once you have extended, we moved so many times, 8 years in this house the longest I've ever lived in a house. My brother has lived in over 30 places.

  28. Oh Juls, this is just fabulous! Wish I had the talent to do this with Emily's room - but I'm afraid I'd make a mess of it, I'm not naturally an arty person, which you obviously are!

I have to admit I have itchy feet and would move in an instant, but hubby is much more grounded than I am. He's only moved once in his whole life - out of his parents house and into our house!!!!

Hope you have a lovely weekend,
    Sarah

Looking forward to the tour when hubby has done his part of the renovation (no pressure LOL!!).

What a special room for your daughter.

You must have had lots of bits in your scrap bag. Just shows they should never be thrown away if you can do something this beautiful with them.

Hope all is good with you.
