First time with copics

This is my entry for the sugar bowl challenge http://sugarbowlblog.blogspot.com/ a little last minute again, isn't amazing how quickly 2 weeks pass! I think this is just about recognisable as Gayle's Sketch, just been elongated slightly!

For those of you who have been enquiring about my new craft purchases, I have used my new copics here, I was a little nervous as I normally use water colour pens and pencils which I think are probably a bit more forgiving. I think I need a lot more practice, but I am quite please with how her hair turned out. Unfortunately I didn't have the right ink to use with them so it has bled a little, which is why I have gone for the whole ripped and torn look thinking I might get away with it if I go for the whole distressed look!

The paper is new as well, although it has already made an appearance on my blog, its from " Bo Bunny - Beau Jardin, blush"

I am not sure about the big bow, not normally my thing but it was a required element so hay ho! guess its good to be pushed out of my comfort zone once and a while!

  1. Very very cute Juls! This little gorjuss girl reminds me of my little one when she pretends to throw a tantrum - she crosses her arms and pouts! But you can see the corners of her mouth turn up into a little smile. :) Thanks so much for visiting my blog today!

  7. Hi Juls I love your card. I have only just managed to post mine. Oops i just remembered I haven't entered it on the Sugar Bowl site yet! Nearly did that with the one I made for Truly Scrumptious yesterday. I've used a Gorjuss Girl too. Mine is coloured with Promarkers. I usually stick to watercolour pencils too. I have Prismas which I can't get round to sharpening - got some done but it is hard going. My friend has a battery operated sharpener - think I need one too. I realised after I started colouring that I had probably used Stazon which is the wrong ink to use! People recommend Memento tuxedo black for Promarkers so I expect Copics are the same.

  22. I use the ciao copic markers and they tend to bleed a little too. Apparently there is something called No bleed paper. haven't found it yet.

  24. Juls, I think you did really well with the monochrome look too! :) Memento Ink is best for copics/promarkers, figured that out by trial and error. It took me a lot of practice and I still need more, lol to get it to look like how I want it too. Great job! xox ~Jeni
