Being Creative .....

Hello All,

This is an art journaling page that I have been working on for the last few days .... I had been checking out some tutorials on art journaling over the holidays, in the quest to learn more, whilst doing that I came across the saying:

"Being Creative means allowing yourself to make mistakes, Art is knowing which ones to keep" I also came across one that said "there are no mistakes in art journaling" .....

These are sentiments that I am really having to take to heart with these pages ..... especially with my dodgy painting, I really should check out some tutorials or online classes for painting faces rather than thinking that I can just fudge my way through it .... I think she looks a little scary, I think it is because the eyes and lips are just a bit dodgly painted!! ... especially the eyes I find it really difficult to get them even! ..... I guess this is a case where I just need to practice!!

Most of this is my own drawing .. (which you can probably tell!!!) with the exception of the butterflies which are kanban stamps. It has all been painted with acrylic paint. and then I went over her hair and lips with twinkling h20's to try and lift it a little.

    She's wonderful Juls! Don't be so critical on yourself. Our journal is a our self-expression not how skilled we are--the skill comes from the practice, but the self-expression is there naturally--I need to listen to myself :)
    Keep going with that journal!!!!

    Well I am impressed Julia and your drawing is miles away from mine, the best I can manage is the back of a cat...........you know, large circle, small circle and a tail.

    Oh you!!! I think, and especially because you are creating your own art here, that you just have to let it flow and you are better not to seek tutorials as it might distract you from YOU!! I love your painting, it has a folk-styled charm to it and the colours you've used are enchanting hunny!! Beautiful work!!! I hope the new year finds you well!!!

    You are very brave Juls and I am totally impressed. My daughter would not allow me to draw (she is an art student) anything anywhere lol. I love the finished product, keep at it girl.

    Hi Juls, oh wow - your sketching and colouring are just great! I honestly cannot draw at all, know I've said that before.

    I've always thought that some mistakes should be allowed to stay - that's what makes something hand made not mass produced.

    Great quotes! Very good to remember and take to heart :) I think your gal looks lovely. I know what you mean about the eyes though. One of the reasons I don't draw or sketch more is that I always get one way bigger than the other no matter how hard I try. *LOL*

    Totally stunning. I am loving your art journaling, you are so creative with what you draw and don't forget this is art so it is all about your interpretation of things - hark at me I can't draw for toffee!!!!. I love her hair and how it goes across the page with the different sized butterflies. You are doing a fabulous job.
