Shock ... horror..... A card!!!!!

Hello All,

...... yes shock horror I actually have a card for you today!! I am so excited I have actually managed to go 3 days without being sick, that is def a record!! I am hoping things will improve and I will at least manage to enjoy the last 3 months of my pregnancy.

So I managed to play in my new craft attack, its a great space but I am a little exposed to the elements, I had to have a little heater, 2 blankets over me and a hot water bottle, but apart from that it was great! .... I am a little concerned though as to if you think the temperatures will effect my craft products ... for example will my pens and inks freeze up, and then cook in summer? I would hate to damage the stock I have collected, it would take an awful of of money to replace!

It has been so long since I have made a card I wasn't sure where to start and what to do ... I think I have lost any ability I may have had, so I am not thrilled with the offering I have today but at least its a start!

The gorgeous images are "Sugar Nellie" ..... these are really old ones, among the first ones that I collected, and believe me I have collected a LOT!! ..... I coloured with copics but was not to successful, the colours were a bit bright to go go with the "Melissa Francis" papers I had chosen. So I knocked back the colours a little by painting over it with gesso, in the hop that it just added to the snowy look ..... I then stippled some gesso in various sections of the card, and then covered that over with a little stickles.

this is my entry for

CLP challenge - Sketch
Cupcake - two's company
My Time to Craft - take 2 (2 images)
Oldie but a goodie - Let it snow
C.R.A.F.T - cute
Dutch Dare - Punches and dies
If the Shoe fits - try something new (using gesso on a card)
Stamptacular - punch it

Thanks for looking
Hugs Juls

  1. Dear God thank you for creating such a wonderfully talented artist! If she wasn’t, our lives it would be less full of eye candy and that would be a great loss! I love this! PS Take her morning sickness away so she can craft her days away until the awesome baby day!

  2. Gorgeous card Juls, I love the delicate effect you've created with the gesso. I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better and well enough to do some crafting, I've missed your beautiful creations. I'm not sure about the cold and your craft stash but I've never heard anything about minimum temperatures so hopefully all will be well

  21. HI Juls, what a pretty card! Love the image and colours and the gesso makes it just soft enough. It's difficult when you've stopped crafting for a while to get back into the hang of it - isn't it! Hopefully, as you are on the last of the long wait for baby, you will continue to feel better and get some crafting time in before s/he appears and it's all babies and no crafting! (Been there, done that!).

    Best wishes,

    Sarah

  25. I am so sorry you have not been feeling well. I did that with my first child. I was sick for 6 months, then by the time she was born, I didn't want to eat anything since I had gotten sick on everything. Wow! I feel for you sweetie!
Your card is totally adorable though. I adore these soft colors and the gesso gives it a nice snowy feel!
    Feel better Juls! Hugs, Dena

  27. Congrats on getting a card made! I was very, very sick all the time during my first pregnancy - so I know how miserable it is to get anything done when you feel that way. If you are concerned about the temperatures in your new craft space being too extreme I have seen things that are designed to tell you the temperature outside that would work well to monitor your space. You put the thermometer outside, and a digital display inside that tells you what the temp is. Then you could keep an eye on it during the hottest and coldest days and get an idea if the temps are too extreme for some of your supplies. Best of luck to you :)
