Hello All,
How are you..I have had a really lovely day, have had a little trip to Elgin today and visited "Paper Boutique" where there was some fab demonstrations going on...got some fab demos on making flowers...shrinkies..chipboard books, and lots of really lovely things. spent lots...and I also I picked up my new Leanne Ellis stamps!! whooo hoooo!!!! cant wait to play, I have loads of lovely ideas floating around my head!!
Anyway onto this card, I actually started it yesterday, and I finished off this eve...I am quite slow at the mo, due to some ongoing health issues..but never mind I got there in the end.
This fab wedding cake is from the fab "polkadoodles - paper boutique" cd......I have to admit I am struggling with the whole template thing....the finished cards look a bit home made, instead of handmade, so if anyone has any tips on how to get them looking a bit more professional I would love to hear them.
I covered the card in paper "sandy lion - wedding roses"...and all the edges have been tinted with "distress ink - worn lipstick" The white flowers are blank flower shapes from "polkadoodles - all around and everywhere" which I have copied into my craft studio and re sized, I have colour tinted the edges, and shaped a little and added some pink gems. The little pink flowers have been made using an "x-cut" punch.
The Scallops of icing were part of the template which I have put on with 3d foam and covered with stickles.
Finally the couple on the top of the cake are from "Sassy Studio Designs"...I have just coloured them slightly with my copics.
This is my entry for:
Die Cut Dreams - Make your own flowers (2nd entry)
Cute Card Thurs - Make your own (I have made my own flowers)
C.R.A.F.T - shaped card
Cupcake Challenge - don't be square
By The Cute and Girly - celebrations
Once again thanks for looking...and putting up with all my waffle!!
Hugs Juls

Sounds like you had a lovely day at Elgin. Was there a week past Thursday with my friend but I was working this morning and she had a class at Peterhead craft shop in the afternoon so we couldn't go. Pity though cos we might have met!
ReplyDeleteCard looks lovely to me. I tend to avoid "different" things as I'm not good with templates...to say the least. This must have been a lot of work but worth it in the end.

ReplyDeleteHi Juls, this is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about templates sometimes making your cards look homemade rather than handmade, I found that out when I done some with the Helping Hands templates, but I think when you use the same template again, you learn where you could improve on bits, but your cake looks fab and it certainlt don't look homemade to me! :)
Lucky you getting to Paper Boutique! I have never been but I hope to go some day. Not having a car kind of restricts where you can travel unfortunately :(
Oh almost forgot to say thanks for joining in with the challenge, still missing you over there :(
