By The Cute and Girly Challenge 3

Wow...well this is amazing I cant believe this but I am actually about to set my first challenge!! I am so excited!! Jane asked me to host this months challenge over at By The Cute and Girly

I have chosen " Lets Go To The Movies " as a theme..and we all had a lot of fun behind the scenes creating some makes to give a little inspiration!

I do have quite a lot of piccies to show you!! So I think this month I will gradually post my makes through the month. So here are the first few.....

In case you hadn't guessed.. the inspiration for this little diary was "Calender Girls"

I have used a "Kanban - Loralie/Paris" Kit from QVC to make this little book!! I got baught a little bind it all tool for my anniversary a couple of years ago...and I have not used it nearly as much as I should have, so it was great getting it out and having a play!

My next make is a cross Stitch.. The film " Singing in the rain"

The Cross Stitch is worked from a kit "Bothy Threads - What a Glorious feeling" I enjoyed doing this, cross stitch was a first Love, and used to be my main hobby before papercrafting took over!! I do however always have one on the go, I normally do it when I am watching TV or when I am on a long journey!

Anyhooo... As I said, I shall be back very soon with some more makes, but for now, please pop across to By The Cute and Girly and have a look at the examples that the DT have come up with, they are truly inspirational !! Also there are some amazing prizes on offer!! Please come along and join in, can't wait to see how you all interpret this theme!!

Hugs Juls

and finally I have added some peel off dots and swirls.

I had made this for the Sophisticat Challenge..which was ATC size, but I missed it!!

But I can still enter it into

Quixotic challenges - torn edges

A Kimmie Scrapling

I thought this would happen...I have become totally addicted to scraplings!! This is one I have made using a Krafting Kimmie stamp! I have used some " We are memory Keepers - Tiffanys" The papers have a gorgeous distressed look, but I have sanded them down a little to add to the effect.

The image has been coloured using a combo of copic's and my whisper pens. I didn't have quite the right coloured thread for the stitching detail, so I have used 3 stands of a red and 3 strands of an orange together..think it has worked ok.

Sorry about the shadow on the photo...I was forced to use my flash as I left it too late to take the photo!

I plan to enter this card into the following challenges:

365 cards - Day 272 (crossing the line)
The Pixie Cottage - Get Stitchy
The Paper Cutz - Anything goes

Copic Advice

Hi All,

I sold quite a few cards last week, Just to friends and family..anyway from the proceeds I have enough to buy myself a 36 Copic set.

I have had a quick look on tinternet, and now I am totally confused. As there is set A, B, C, & D.

I currently have 5 copics E00 & E21 (for skin tone) and C1, C5, & C7 (For Monochrome)

I was just wondering if anyone had advice on which set would be the best to get first!

Thanks for your help! Hugs Juls

Animal Antics

Hi all, Hope you have had a good weekend! I have had visitors over the weekend, and I have another lot arriving on Thursday so I have not been bale to pop round and comment as much as I would have liked to.

This is my entry for Simon Says The theme this week is Animal Antics.

I have used a "house mouse" image which was sent to me by a friend and I have coloured it using my whispers pens. All the edges have bee tinted using "Distress ink - worn Lipstick & Shabby shutters" The background paper is "K&Co - Amy Butler- Sola collection" the little sentiment is also from "K&Co" I have done some Faux stitching..the twine wrapped round the card is DMC ( left over from a cross stitch I was working on ) and I have also used it to do some stitching on the image!

This is my first attempt at this style of handmade flower..I have added some dewdrops to the centre of the flower.

and that's about it....

Scraplings

This Is My Entry for Daring Card Makers the challenge there is Scraplings! Making cards out of the left over card we use for our main cards. As most of you probably have seen I always seem to end up making square cards, and these have been made using that silly scrap bit that has been left over.

I have to say that I really enjoyed making these and have become quite addicted!! I think this may be a new fav of mine!!

here's a closer look:

I Have used some "DCWV - Le Creme" paper, and the little image is "Crafty Individuals - Miniatures people and places" then I have added a couple of Prima Flowers and " Kanban - Gems "

This is another one, made with the same elements as the 1st one.

Finally, again the same papers and image..but I have used a "Hedi Swapp - Swirl Stamp" In the corner.

This is a little different from my usual style but I quite like them...hope you do too!! hugs Juls

Snow Day

I had an unexpected afternoon of crafting today! always good!! There are a lot of challenges this week with Snow as a theme So I thought it was about time that I inked this little lady up!!.. all the papers are from my scrap box, so I have no idea of what they are sorry!! I have coloured her using a combo of copics and whispers pens. I wanted to make the fur on her coat, and the snow different textures, so on her coat I used puff paint, which I heated with a heat gun, and added glitter while it was still hot. Then for the snow I have used flower soft, this is only my 2nd attempt at using flower soft and I still haven't quite got the hang of it, I would have preferred the snow flakes to be more delicate, instead of it looking like she was standing in a blizzard!! Finally I added some double sides peeloff swirls, and put a little pink glitter on it to add a bit of extra sparkle!!

Unfortunately bad lighting has caused problems with the whole photography thing!! I tried to flood the card with light, using my little daylight table top thing I have. It has helped a little but not much. I quite like the way it has turned out, but you should see the state of me!! I am covered in white fluff and glitter!! Major clean up Op now required!!

I am planning on entering this into the following challenges:

365 Cards (Saturday) - Snow
Cup Cake Challenges - Snow Much Fun
Crafty Creations - Snow
Crafty Calender - The Weather
Secret Crafter - 4 Seasons
Cute Card Thursday - Glitter me silly
Paper Cutz - Stamp and Colour
Pixie Cottage - Sketch
Quixotic Challenges - Stitching, Real or Faux

choccies!!

Hi all,

I did that thing again when I just fell in love with the image, and had to have it. I was at our local craft shop on Tuesday, which is a garden centre/coffee shop/craft shop..My Friend and I went in for a coffee..then went to the craft shop..just to look, as we were not buying anything!!!! But we fell in love with these papers "Dovecraft - Kitten Heels" It was only £2.99 per pack, so we thought we would split it..as we never seem to go through a whole pack of paper ever, also there was 6 sheets of each design which is plenty to be having a play with! and £1.50 didn't feel too naughty.

I am going to enter this into Creative Inspirations as the challenge is new or neglected stash! So the paper is the newest stash I have!!

I would like to say that this was a quick card, although it is really simple..it seemed to take ages to cut the image out! I have just matted it onto cream and red pearlised card, added a few gems, a bit of glitter to the ribbon and then some clear swirl peeloffs on the top left corner.

Unfortunately the photo is a bit naff..the light was terrible today, its been a right miserable day!! Hope you all enjoy your weekend! Hugs Juls

Going Primary

Hi all, I have made this card for a couple of challenges, I have to admit that I am not really sure of this card, It is not a colour combo I have ever used, and is not really my style, but I really wanted to have a go at the Cute Card Thursday and the challenge there was to use primary colours!! eek!! so this is my attempt, I am not sure what the image is sorry, It is a stamped image that I received from a friend, the Paper is from "Prima" I am also entering it into One Stop Craft Challenge which is one for the kids!

that's it from me today, hugs Juls

Autumn Leaves

whoo hooo, a card 2 days in a row, on my record recently that's a miricle!!

I have made this card for the following challenges:

Paperplay - Parlez Vous

This is a Thank you card, but I have used a peel off with the sentiment "Danke" as the challenge was to use any sentiment in any language other than English!! Fun challenge, I liked that one!

Simon Says - Thank you

Pink Elephant
- Thank you

Crafty Catz - Going Dotty

The paper I have used is double sided paper from "Prima" and all the edges have been inked with " Distress ink - Walnut "

Pile it on - Fall/use leaves

The image is from "Sugar Nellie" and then I also created some leaf embellishments, by using peeloffs, which I coloured with a black permanent marker so they match the sentiment, and added some stickles and some pearls.

I had also used a sketch from Everybody art challenge, but unfortunately I did not post it in time to qualify..but it was still good for the inspiration!!

Actually got a couple of cards made last night..so I even have one lined up for tomorrow..now that's a first for me! hugs to you all Juls

Finally A Card

Wow, How are you all? I have had a majorly busy week last week I had no time to craft, and didn't get much blogging done, so it feels great to finally have something to share with you all.

I have made this card for a few challenges:

Penny Black - Song Title/ Lyrics

The song I have chosen is "Tea For Two" - Doris Day....I hope this will not be considered cheating for choosing an old song, Like Simon choosing a song for X Factor from "Gumbo" Although personally I was with Simon on that one, but was shocked at what he did in the results show!! Any Hoo.....Even though I am only in my early 30's I happen to Love Doris Day, I remember sitting watching all the musicals with my Gran, I know all the songs, and I have a collection of her DVD's ( I realise that confession is just a little bit sad!)

Allsorts - Bring out the Bling

I hope I have enough Bling on the card! I had planned a huge swirl of gems, but I actually preferred the card without it so I took it of again. I have however found one of the sparklist ribbons at the bottom of my ribbon jar....I think it was from "crafty bits" Its left over from a tsv from qvc. I have also added some stickles and some green "Kanban" Gems

Abc - Green

The papers i have used are form "K&Co - wedding collection" and everything has have the edges tinted with "distress ink - shabby shutters"

Crafty Card Makers - stamp something

Creative Card Crew
- ribbons and gems

My Time To Craft - Scallops.

I have used some embossed scalloped edging from "Craftworkcards" and have inked over with "distress ink - shabby shutters" and edged around with a black pen.

Papertake Weekly - Sketch

I loved the way this card turned out, so think I will be using this sketch as inspiration again..thanks girls

And that's about it! hugs to you all Juls

By The Cute and Girly Challenge 2

Well can you believe it another month has passed and it is time for the 2nd Challenge over at By The Cute And Girly Laura has set us the challenge of "Winter Wonderland" we have had a lot of fun preparing for this one, and hope you will all join in with us too..here are my makes for the challenge:

This card has been made using a gorgeous stamp from " Stamptivity Ltd" I actually bought her in March and I have never yet inked her up, can you believe that?! anyway, I thought she would make the perfect Snow Queen! I have stamped her a few times and layered up, I have coloured creating a paint from Mica Powders, also I coloured the lace of the dress with sakura gel pens but water coloured it out. The and added some flower soft to create a fur coller. The paper of the main card is from the "K&Co - wedding collection"..on the inside of the card I have also stamped some snowflakes and dusted over with Mica powders to give a co- ordinated look. and finally added some glass beads.

I made this candle to co-ordinate with the card I made, again adding touches of flower soft.
I have to say this is the project I have been most excited about! It is something very different for me, something I have never attempted before. While I was down south I went into a Hobby Craft shop, years ago I always looked a the x stitch then the last 4 years or so it had been the papercraft section, now as a result of "By the cute and Girly" I have rediscovered my love of all crafts, so I felt the need to look at absolutely everything!! Poor Hubby I took hours!

Any way I came across this kit designed for children, and it was for fashion designing, it had a tiny manikin and scraps of fabric, and I just loved the idea of that! However the kit was ridiculously expensive as it was really just a gimmick, so I walked the length and breath of the shop to see if they would sell the manikin on its own, and they didn't...then my hubby saw in the shop next door, some of these jewelery stands, that were a dress form for £5 he suggested i buy that and cut the wires off, and that's what I did.

I have done dress making for myself before, but always using a pattern, I didn't have the confidence to design a pattern, also I have never done anything in miniature like this..so I really enjoyed it. Below are a few photos I took during the process of making it:

The Lighting is quite bad in most of these photo's I was working into the evening, hopefully it gives you an idea.

Please if you get a chance pop across to By The Cute and Girly As all the girls have created some truly inspiring stuff which is well worth looking at!! and we are looking forward to see all your "Winter Wonderland" Makes too!!

Hugs Juls
