Reflections with Acetate

I have been asked by a few people how to create a reflection using acetate. I am in no way claiming to be an expert, the " how to" I have created below is only the 2nd time I have ever attempted this technique, and I am still in need of loads of practice myself!

It was the lovely Kate from the house of sugar that told me about this technique on Thursday when I popped through for a visit, so all credit goes to her! THANK YOU KATE!!!

so: Step one - stamp onto acetate:

Step 2: place the wet side down onto your card and rub over with your hand to transfer the image
Step 3: Stamp the image again so directly above the reflection you have created

and, finally colour!....I need a lot more practice at this part, I have tried to colour the reflection darker than the main image, also I have only used horizontal strokes and have gone out of the lines slightly to create a distorted look, as you would get with water....and this time I have rubbed a little stickles over the reflection.

I hope this has been easy enough to follow, the photo's are not brill, I had one hand on the crafting and the camera in the other hand...LOL!!!

Hugs to you all

Autumn Reflections

Hello All,

Yesterday I was lucky enough to get through to Elgin and visit the home of Sugar Nellie! My lovely hubby took me so I could get a little break from life!......I was speaking to the fabulous Kate, an incredibly talented lady.......and she told me how to create reflections using acetate. I have done reflections before years ago using a brair......I have to say this is much much easier, so thank you Kate for teaching me something new!!!! Before when I did reflections I used water colours, but this time I have tried it with copics.....still need a little practice with that one, but guess you have to start somewhere!!

The papers are from my scrap pile so I have no idea what they are, and the leaves are from an old sheet of peel offs I have (I am still working on trying to get through all the stuff I have collected over the years!)

I have enjoyed having a little play this eve, hope it will not be too long before I get the chance again!!!

Off to one of the many weddings tomorrow, My husband and I have just been informed that we are taking the official photos.....(nothing like forward planning!!!).....eeek, mild panic setting in now!!!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

Sugar Nellie Wedding

Hello All,

Hi how are you? I am so sorry my life has been a whole lot of crazy recently and I have not had much time for anything...so I have not had much chance of blogging, or card making. This is one I made a few weeks ago. (I thought it was about time I shared something with you) I actually made it for the Sugar Nellie Sweetie search, but then never entered it. I have made the card from my scraps. The paper is "K&Co and the flowers are from a "Dawn Bibby" kit I got quite a few years ago.

Hopefully I will be back to some sort of normality soon, one never knows!!

Hugs to you all,
Juls

20 Years

Hello All,

Well I was asked by my best friends husband to make a card for him to her for their 20th wedding anniversary, he was looking for something spectacular (no pressure then!!!).....I am not sure I could call this spectacular.....but I hope he likes it.......thankfully he does not spend hours in blogland and so doesn't really have any idea of all the amazing creations that all you guys make!!!

This "anita" stamp I have had forever.....it is definitely a good one for occasions like this!! The backing card is from "Kanban"...then half way through making the card, I realised I had the co-ordinating floral stamp...so I was well delighted with that discovery as I was able to create a whole co-ordinated look.

and thats about it really!

Engagment with a twist

Hi all,

Yes well by the looks of my card I have gone slightly mad! However this is a card I have made as a special order. I was asked to make an engagement card for a couple who are both vets. When talking to my friend about what she wanted she suggested that she would like a couple surrounded by animals....and so this is what I have come up with.....I just hope it is what she had imagined.

I decided to keep the layout quite simple as I was using so many images on one card

The main image is a "precious moments" image. The cats and dogs are from my new "Kanban" set...so far that set has come to my rescue 2 days in a row, so I am well happy!!! and the little mice are from a "woodware" set that I bought years and years ago. All the images have been coloured with copics.

The paper is from my scrap pile, and I really cant remember what it was.

Sports notes

Hello All,

I am so sorry I have not appeared much in blogland recently...I have had a lot on and have only been able to catch the odd 5 min here and there.

I was phoned up the other day by a friend who wanted me to make her a notebook for her sister, and she needed it by Monday!!!! I asked a few quick questions...Like what are her fav colours, whats does she enjoy, e.c.t. so My brief was : name included, green and Orange, more sassy than cute, and she likes football!! eeek...it took me a while to get my head round that one!........this is what I came up with, now I just hope she likes it!!.......It is similar to one I made a few weeks ago, but I have not posted in ages so I thought I would share it with you anyway!

The image is "Kenny K"......I have to say thank goodness for digital images, when you are asked for something specific at short notice, and you don't really have anything that fits the bill, they come in very handy!!!! I have coloured with my copics.

The little football stamps are part of the Kanban TSV on Tuesday,...you know that just sort of fell into my basket!!! I have inked them up with "whispers ink - grand cranberry and butterscotch"

The papers are "momenta - family ties"

This is my entry for:

Fab and Funky - What'eva
Totally gorjuss - flowers
Tuesday Taggers - books.

As always thanks for looking, I hope to catch up with you all soon,

I am sew excited!!

Hello All,

Well I hope you are all enjoying your weekend! Up here in the north of Scotland we have actually enjoyed 3 days of sunshine...wow..guess that's summer!!

Well as I mentioned I am really excited as I have discovered that the lovely Lorali has designed some stamps. I love her images and Kanban have used her art work quite a lot to make toppers..and I have bought a few of them, but in all honestly I hate using toppers....well we all love that inky feeling!! I always hoped that one day we would have stamps...a couple of weeks ago I discovered Lorali's website...and my wish came true..so many lovely things....also I did have a little bit of pocket money I I sold a few of those wedding cards, so I was able to have a little spending spree....

I Love this image so much its so very quirky...I Just Love sewing images, and I just think this one is fab. My crafting background started with sewing. My Great Grandmother used to make handmade Teddy's for a living...(so I learnt that from her) My Grandmother was a seamstress and did some tailoring. My Mum also is a brilliant seamstress and so from about the age of 10 I was making my own clothes, I would probably still do it now but it is a little disheartening when you know you could buy it cheaper on the high street than make yourself.

I have coloured with copic's and added a little sparkle using a "marvy - deco just glitter" pen.....I have stamped up the corners of the card too, and the papers are from that never ending scrap pile I have!!!

The little embellishments are also stamped images, I have wrapped threads round the cotton reals to add a little texture.

This is my entry for:

paperplay - In stitches
Moving Along with the times - In stitches

well, thanks for looking and listening to all my waffle...its much appreciated!
